Weekend is coming.

Spending time with friends in the city is old and it is time to be with the nature. How can we do that in or near Manila if we only have the weekend off? Biak na Bato National Park is a place where you can go for a day and need not to spend all your savings.

So, for Php 1,000 or less is enough to go with your 4 other pals.

A Guide to Biak na Bato National Park

Hike Mt. Manalmon

Hike up the mountain for an hour and another to climb down. This is good for beginners. I remember hosting an event here with ladies in their 40’s and they are more than happy to hike a mountain, 196 meters above sea level. No fuzz, no arte.

A sari-sari store is available along the way so some of the climbers still has the chance to grab a bite on the way up or down the mountain. The hostess of the house also sells mops that they sell in the city so buy some if you can.

Having fun at the peak!

Swim at Madlum River and check out story of Madlum Cave

The Madlum water’s temperature is temperament. We went on Jan and Feb but the water is so cold like it just came from refrigerator. It is a good thing that we needed to cool down since we just got back from the climb.

Bayukbok Cave

It took us 2 hours to go in and out of the cave. It took us some time to get out because we have to wait for our friends and guests to climb up and down the steep stones inside the cave. We were 17 in a group so that is understandable.

Sample Itinerary and Budget Guide

Use this as your guide. 9am start is already late. Most hikers go up at 2 or 3 in the morning but we decided not to do that because it gets crowded at the top. Sometimes it takes a line to get to the top and get photos. However, we have to bear the consequence of late start. The sun is up already at 9am and by 12 it is already at its peak. One good thing is that we went on Jan and Feb so the temperature is not very hot yet.
