The Rwandan Hostage is an engaging story of why a 17-year-old boy was kidnapped, of how the closest part of the family can be involved in the villainous plot and of why family will always be the reason to turn to in times of crisis. Lowery highlighted how it would be tough for an ordinary person to get justice in a developing country. Jenny Bishop was the main character.

The book is part of a trilogy. It was written creatively using Rwanda’s history of Hutu and Tutsi’s to the point where readers would dig deeper about it. I did! Although, he already mentioned in the beginning that the book won’t be complete if not for his family and his daughter’s work in Africa. Most of all, he made sure to give the readers the satisfaction of travelling from Johannesburg, South Africa, to London, United kingdom, to Marbella Spain through his written words.

Favorite part

First, Coetzee, one of the villains made a change of heart and tried to do good and help the victim, Leopold, instead of giving him up to the masterminds of the attack.

Second, my favorite character died in the most unexpected time. It was unpredictable. The author made me mad about it. Can you guess who?
