Life has a way of speeding by, doesn’t it? One moment you’re caught up in the whirlwind of romance, and the next, you’re navigating the quiet rhythms of married life. For me, marriage wasn’t about grand gestures or dramatic declarations; it was about finding comfort in each other’s presence, like coming home to a peaceful place.
The Art of Pausing
In the early days, we would spend hours talking. Well, to be honest, he’s the real talker. As time passed, life got busier, and our conversations began to feel more like rushed exchanges. Then, something shifted.
We received a blessing. Less night out dinner, less adventure camping, and no spontaneous trips. It wasn’t easy. I had a lot of questions about what and why these are happening as if something has gone wrong. But it was just life at a slowed-down pace.
For me, the life I want now is the kind where I get to choose to spend more time at home with our little one and my husband. I couldn’t believe that I’m saying these words now after many years of telling myself that it’s impossible for me to raise a little human; my own family.
The Beauty of Everyday Moments

Marriage isn’t always about the big moments; it’s about the small, everyday moments that make life worth living. It’s about waking up to the sound of your partner’s gentle snores, or fart that gives off evidence of last night’s dinner (Ew! I know.). It’s about sharing a cup of coffee on a lazy Sunday morning, about watching a movie before hitting the sack, talking about what has gone wrong with the Philippines’ politics, about finding joy in the mundane. These moments may seem insignificant to some, but to me, they’re the building blocks of a life well-lived.
Learning to Appreciate the Pace
Two years quickly went by. I learned to appreciate the pace of our lives together. I no longer felt the need to rush through every moment, to pack every second with activity and excitement. Instead, I found comfort in the quiet rhythms of our daily routine.
I look forward to long walks, hold hands, and conversations about our hopes and dreams. It is in these moments that I feel love most real. This is a testament to me that love is not a flash of sparks that quickly fizzle out. It can be a slow-burning fire, warm and steady.
A Love That Endures
Looking back, I realize that our love has been a journey of slowing down, of appreciating the beauty in the everyday moments. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. In a world that’s constantly speeding up, our love has become a refuge, a place where we can slow down, breathe deep, and savor the beauty of life together. And as I look to the future, I know that our love will continue to grow, slowly but surely, like a tree that’s been planted deep in the earth.
