Where can your spry self take you to eat and enjoy local food on your surf break in La Union? There are many restaurants in the center of San Juan but will it make your heart leap of happiness because it is “sulit” (worth the price)? To start your food journey here’s a list of restaurants which definitely serves good food and will make you say “Yes! Sulit!“.

Sebay Surf Central

BULALO, Sebay

This is always the first restaurant we go to after 5-6 hours drive from Manila. My favorite is chicken “tinola” which is a soup-based dish with chicken, green papaya wedges, leaves of chili pepper, ginger, onion, and fish sauce. The broth is to die for.  It is uniquely serve in a pot and I mean “palayok”. A pot can serve 2 persons and the price is between Php 150 – 250 (I couldn’t remember the exact price). This include good sea view with surfers happily riding waves. How about that?

Riverfarm Seafood Restaurant

This place is in Bacnotan and is just a few minute drive from the center of San Juan surfing area. What’s exciting about this place is their fresh catch tilapia and other farm produce. My first love is there “kilawin bangus” or  milkfish ceviche. This food just really brought back childhood memory.

The Farm Agoo

The Farm Agoo

We made it to this amazing place by chance. The farm is full of love, art, and ingenuity. I later found out that a dear friend’s brother was married in this very place. You might just need a little patience because they really take time cooking food. Well, sometimes good things happen when you wait, right? From the bottom of my heart, I want to invite you to this place. Did I mention that if you do so you’ll bag IG worthy photos?

Oh boy! Thinking about food makes me hungry. Isn’t it interesting to know that there’s a “sulit” way to spend that hard-earned money? Now, how about we get on that food journey?

Hi Ly! Definitely will try the next time I come back to visit the Philippines. It was a hectic schedule for me when I took my vacation 3 months ago, there was no definite itinerary for me, it was just a hop in the car and ride where ever I and my fiancé can go hahaha!!! Anyway congratulation again to your blog and wishing you more travel and adventures to come in the future…
