Mesmerized (spellbind) is the word I would often associate when listening to CJ Kaamiño. It was at the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP) stage when I first witnessed barefooted CJ Kaamiño with her 2 other friends sang their hearts out to the beat of “Kayamanan ng Mindanao”. I wouldn’t forget their faces brimming with great happiness that stuns me even to this day. Oh, and thanks to Pusakalye band and FILSCAP I get to know them!

Family is family kahit anong mangyari. No phones during dinner. Always make time to bond. Ang work mo pagnamatay ka, magpopost yan ng LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO HIRE na ipapalit sayo. Family mo parin sasalo sayo.

And then, on August 12, 2021, CJ shared thru Facebook the 24 lessons about self-love, productivity, career, and relationships that she wished she knew sooner. I wouldn’t get past it. So hey, keep reading!

Lesson #1 Ikigai

“Finding the sweet spot between what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for is a quest and a fulfilling adventure to have. Natagalan ako pagfigure out dito pero worth it naman sobra.”

Lesson #2 Time

“Time will never be equal to money. We have the same hours a day as Beyonce. Ano excuse mo to taking action for your life? Wag puru reklamo. Patas lang tayo.”

Lesson #3 Self-Care

“You cannot give what you do not have. If di mo aalagaan sarili mo, don’t expect na maaalagaan mo ang iba effectively.”

Lesson #4 Self-Love

“Self-Love and Selfishness are two different things. Hindi ka madamot. Self-Love is necessary kasi again, you cannot give what you do not have.”

Lesson #5 Take Breaks

“Kahit Pomodoro Technique pa yan o ano, take breaks. It could be one day to rest or even 5 minute breaks after 25 minutes of work. Malaking tulong na yun.”

Lesson #6 Morning Routine + Checklist

“Morning routine can make or break your day. Prime yourself before even doing any work. What is 10mins-45minutes of priming yourself for the whole 16 hours of work diba? Para sayu din yan.”

Lesson #7 Meditation

“Investing 10-20minutes to relax and clear your mind from your to-do list can make you very very productive during the day.”

Lesson #8 Time Block and Plan Ahead

“Dreams are goals with deadlines. For me I create a goal for the year, break that down into quarterly goals, write targets for each month, focus for each week and delegate top 3 tasks for each day. Wag mag overthink. Keri mo to.”

This is like what the great strategist, Sun Tzu, said about preparedness. Knowing the place and the time of the coming battle, we may concentrate from the greatest distances in order to fight.

Lesson #9 Journaling and Documenting

“It’s important for me to be mindful of my thoughts. Every now and then nag jo-journal and I constantly document my experience, my thoughts, ideas, plans, systems lahat lahat to have something to fall back on when needed.”

Lesson #10 Intentional Actions

“It’s not enough to be busy. Be intentional sa actions mo. Don’t spread yourself thin.”

Lesson #11 Overthinking

“Masyadong creative ang utak ko minsan ino-overthink na and nalilimutan na mag take action. Wag! Di ko pala kailangan e overthink lahat. I’m just going to think and take action.”

Lesson #12 Family

“Family is family kahit anong mangyari. No phones during dinner. Always make time to bond. Ang work mo pagnamatay ka, magpopost yan ng LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO HIRE na ipapalit sayo. Family mo parin sasalo sayo.”

Lesson #13 Doubt

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. Sana na realize ko to agad.”

Lesson #14 Anger and Forgiveness

“Anger is the punishment you give yourself for other people’s mistakes. Wag mo parusahan self mo. Forgive. Mahirap yes. I know. But, sana balang araw mapatawad natin sila.”

Lesson #15 Choice

“You always have a choice. You are always choosing. Like ngayon, you chose to read this post. You chose to be here. You chose to learn. You chose to grow. Congrats. Make the right choices!”

Lesson #16 Burnout

“You spread yourself thin. Pakahero ka eh! Di ka naman superwoman. Real talk lang ah. Na burnout ka kasi you chose it. Wag ganun besh. Minamadali mo ang process eh. Holding back is a discipline”

Lesson #17 Weight

“So feel mo useless kana kasi you gained weight? Dai nabuang naka dai. Weight lang yan. You can work your way diyan. Wag ka magpakadepress. Instead, mag focus ka sa health mo.”

Lesson #18 Essentialism

“Use the things and love the people. Wag the other way around.”

Lesson #19 Emotional Decisions

“Don’t decide pag super extreme ng emotion. You’ll regret it. “

Lesson #20 Growth Mindset

“Be open to learning and trying new things. We never stop learning. “

Lesson #21 Relationship

“Choose a person that aligns with your goals and values. Baka ma drag ka kasi pag you’re not on the same boat. Relationships are meant to be there for the both of you[r] to grow and bloom to your fullest potential.”

Lesson #22 Faith in God

“ALWAYS . ALWAYS. ALWAYS. Everything is going to be fine. “

Lesson #23 Death

“We’re all going to die one day, everyone you know will die eventually. So why waste time on doubting yourself? It’s time to take action. Super ikli ng buhay guys.”

Lesson #24 Birth

“You were meant to do something great. If feel like you haven’t done anything yet, you are wrong. All the years that you’ve had in your life was leading to this moment. For you to realize that you were meant to do something great.”

I especially like the lesson about time, family and relationship. Hey, no one is an island, right? So I totally agree with #2, #12, and #14. I must say, Ceej this is an extraordinary way of sharing where you are at in your adult stage and how you’ve been in the previous years.

CJ is also on Facebook @cj.kaamino and Spotify. Listen to her and I guarantee na mapapaindak ka talaga.
