Finding savory but affordable ramen and gyoza in the city was not a joke. Rewarding when you find one. And we did…

Yeye Ramen House

Yeye, in Malugay St, was now my go to place. It started last year of October 2017 and from then on, I was hooked. The place was easy to find. For few minutes drive, when in luck, I could taste Tonkotsu’s pork broth. The Php 150 soupy noodle was enough to calm my tensed nerve of the day at work.

Mariel, a smiling young lady who was always there to greet and bring our food was kind enough to give us “Suki Card” after countless visits. Yahoo!

The menu changed when we went on 3rd week of March 2018.

Shoyu : Php 120

Ramen Kuroda

“Sulit”, is what I can say. Amazingly, a good and flavorful bowl of Tonkotsu could be as cheap as Php 180 and 4 pieces of gyoza was just Php 100.

Venice Piazza’s Ramen Kuroda branch was my favorite because it was close to home. I also like the vibe in this place. Oh, expect service charge on this stop. Some branches such as in RCBC Building does not have service charge on the bill. Hey, that was a sulit tip!

Yamazaki

Every bite of their gyoza feels like fireworks were lit inside my brain. Filling was just right, not too dry and not too moist. The five pieces gyoza was affordable in Php 106 per order. It could be a few pesos higher now but still very affordable compared to other Japanese restaurants in Manila.

They have refreshing ramen soup. My favorite, ofcourse, was their Tonkotsu Ramen.

Families were the usual customers here. Everyone can be entertained with Japanese books (as long as you know how to read Japanese character) and a small grocery store was accessible on the side.

Direction: Take a jeepney from Guadalupe going to PRC. From there, ride again another jeepney going to Little Tokyo. Drivers were usually helpful so don’t be afraid to ask.

Oki-oki Japanese Restaurant

The search for a quiet place to eat on a Friday night made my all so loving ramen influencer and I discover this in Makati. It was inside A-venue Mall and very easy to find. Their gyoza filling was also tasty. Every order costs Php 180+ pesos.

Direction: Ride a jeepney from Guadalupe going to Makati Avenue Mall.

I have tried many ramen restaurants here in the metro but so far these are top in my list of “afforda-best” (short of affordable-best).

More ramen soon!
